I got to get on the soapbox, if you will permit for a moment. Our esteemed county has had a situation for many years now, and with the current recession, etc, things seem to be going from bad to worse. Many of our locals are self employed, doing sub contracting work, which means no insurance, 401k, retirement, and maybe get paid from the homeowner/contractor they are working for if they feel so inclined.
Problem is that there is not much at all for adults to work at that will bring in more than minimum wage, that is for someone else. We just don't have the big companies to work for.
As these workers age, situations with health, etc, make life almost impossible. Our county officials need to get on the ball and bring in industry where we can work and actually survive. Either that, or I hate to say it, unionize.

  1. We have many talented individuals that are very good at what they do, but end up in a drastic situation!

  2. Just in case anyone needs to fill out a Homeowner Contractor form, I found a blank form in this site PDFfiller. This site also has several related tax forms that you might find useful.
